Assassin’s Creed leaked for Nintendo Switch?

Hold on to your hype, it’s not Odyssey.

A listing from German retailer MediaMarkt has pointed to an Assassin’s Creed title coming to Nintendo Switch. Pencilled in for a March 29th release, a Friday. The retailer lists the title as “Assassin’s Creed Compilation”. It also implies you will see the title coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

What to make of this? Well, the source isn’t as promising as others such as Amazon or Wal-Mart. But Ubisoft has given us a compilation before with the Ezio Collection. Featuring AC II, Brotherhood and Revelations, it came to PS4 and Xbox One, with enhanced graphics, back in November 2016.

It seems unlikely that Ubisoft would just push those out again. Perhaps they would re-release AC II though, in a bundle including Assassins’s Creed I, II and III. Potentially including Black Flag? That could appeal to Nintendo gamers, seeing as to date we’ve only seen the 3rd and 4th mainline games. Those titles came to the Wii U, which of course was something of a commercial fail. So there might be some money on the table there given the success of the Switch. While this Compilation isn’t pointed out as a Switch exclusive, the portability of the system could be a great way to revisit these titles. Especially if like me, you missed any of them.

What else could it be?

There are a whole host of smaller Assassin’s Creed games you could see. Spin Off titles that Ubisoft may be looking to cash in. The other AC title that Nintendo users got being counted amongst them, Assassin’s Creed II: Discovery. We could see something packing together the likes of the Chronicles games, Discovery, and Assassins’s Creed III: Liberation.

Then again, and here’s the pinch of salt now. This could be nothing. MediaMarkt may just be putting a placeholder out there for something they feel could happen. They could have been acting on poor information. I’d love to see Assassin’s Creed I through III on my Switch, having missed the 3rd instalment.

With no official word from Ubisoft, we are just speculating at this point so, don’t get to excited just yet. But you could be getting your hands on a new Assassin’s Creed collection in the near future!
