Audi are looking to delve deeper in their investment in eSports by signing a three-year sponsorship deal with their native German FIFA team Fokus Clan, as well as partnering with FC Ingolstadt 04’s eSports team.
The deal with Fokus Clan will see the car-making company provide a branded Audi Q7 e-tron car, compete with a PS4 to be used to promote the new partnership over the course of the next six months. Further promotion will be at Fokus Clan’s disposal, with a number of events planned as well as the Audi logo being showcased in their social media channels.
Audi AG head of sports marketing, Thomas Glas, released the following statement on the opportunities opened up by the sponsorship deals: “Esport opens up new and exciting marketing opportunities for us. esport is dynamic and far more flexible than many traditional sports. This enables us to shape many things and actively participate in their further development. The young and, above all, digital, and technology-savvy target group with an enormous reach and strong global networking is interesting. This makes a commitment to esports particularly attractive for Audi and ideally complements our digital communication strategy.”
Elsewhere, the Audi logo has been notably missing from the latest Astralis kit reveal, having signed a $750,000 deal in January last year, with the Danish team yet to comment on the details of the sponsorship deal and the absence of the logo.
