Team Secret have been crowned champions of the Dota 2 ESL One Hamburg 2018 event, beating a valiant Vici Gaming side in the best-of-five Grand Finals.
The first game looked as if it was going to set the tone for the five-match series, with Team Secret racing into an early 1-0 lead. However, the tides were to turn in the second game, which clocked in at over an hour long, and saw Vici level the scores going into the third game.
Game three saw an impressive performance from Zhang ‘Paparazi’ Chengjun, who’s Luna took full advantage of Secret’s seemingly broken momentum as Vici took a 2-1 lead. However, not to be written off was Secret who came out swinging in game four, with a dominant display from Michal ‘Nisha’ Janowski who set up a deciding game between the two teams.
And it was game five that proved to not only be decisive, but was also a clear highlight of the overall series. A fair amount of time passed where both opponents were more or less level, until Vici were hit by a team wipe from a Reverse Polarity by Ludwig ‘zai’ Wåhlberg, leaving Vici with no way to respond and an imminent GG call coming out after around 40 minutes.
With a hot display at ESL One Hamburg 2018, it will be exciting to see what happens in the DreamLeague Season 10 Minor going forward.
