Next weekend’s ESL One Hamburg will honour John “Totalbiscuit” Bain by inducting him into the Esports Hall of Fame. Running from 26-28 October, the Dota 2 competition will pay homage to the British content creator and it also marks the first non-player to be inducted into ESL’s Esports Hall of Fame.
Bain sadly lost his battle with Cancer earlier this year, though his massive contributions to gaming will live on forever as ESL look to cement his legacy following his coverage of games of the likes of Smite, Dota 2 and Blizzard title such as Hearthstone and StarCraft. He served Blizzard titles extremely well over the years, as the producer of a WoW Radio and Azeroth Daily series, as well being a caster for StarCraft II. In terms of his influence on eSports, he sponsored the team Axiom, which was co-founded by his wife Genna, who handed over the reigns to John in 2013.
ESL released the following statement regarding John’s induction into the Hall of Fame: “His influence on the esports scene can not be understated as his passion and support helped drive various competitive titles towards the heights they reached today. He left behind a body of work unmatched by any other while still managing to give a voice to indie scenes and breakout players.”
Be sure to tune into the ESL One Hamburg event next week, as Bain’s contributions are celebrated as we remember a figure who had an unmatched influence on eSports today.
