Flipsid3 Tactics caused an upset at the Rocket League WSOE 4, as they emerged victorious over NRG in the finals after having knocked out competition favourites Cloud9.
The RLCS 2016 winners have flown under the radar recently, following the trade of Yukeo who headed to Dignitas, whilst Jack “Speed” Packwood-Clarke joined the team on loan from Red Reserve. In turn, the surprise winners hadn’t been expected to compete against the likes of either Cloud9 or Dignitas, though it was the European outfit that came out on top.
Flipsid3 gained a shock win on Championship Sunday over Cloud9 to set up a meeting in the final against NRG. Not ones to be written off, it was Flipsid3 who would go on to overcome their opponents in a determined 4-2 win over NRG to win the title, earning themselves a grand prize of $50,000, as well as the coveted solid gold chain and WSOE jacket at the end of a gripping best of seven series.
Overall, in what was a heated day of Rocket League action, the final day of the championship saw the three favourite teams ultimately being knocked out, and saw an early 2019 upset for the likes of Cloud9, Dignitas and NRG, courtesy of well-deserved winners Flipsid3 Tactics.
