A month filled with excellent releases, exciting and unexpected eSports victories and even more great content, this October at DarkSpawn has been the best so far.

Top Releases for October

Red Dead Redemption 2 – PS4, Xbox One

RDR 2

Building on the much-loved legacy of the original Red Dead Redemption, this sequel (that’s actually a prequel) brings the series kicking and screaming to modern-day gaming standards, with far more nuanced gameplay and interesting mechanics. For those who loved taking pot-shots at the wildlife and generally tearing up the landscape, this new title might not be for you, but for fans who loved the story and setting of the previous tile, RDR2 is more of the same.

WWE 2K19 – PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC

WW2k19

The twentieth installment for this sometimes-controversial yet still popular series, WWE’s annual release is here for 2018 with their 2K19 title, meeting that yearly itch wrestling fans have to get up close and personal with some of their favourite wrestlers in an all-out virtual competition. There’s no much new about this formula, but sometimes you can’t go wrong with more of the same. Read our review online today:

Assassin’s Creed Odyessy – PS4, Xbox One, PC

assassins-creed-odyssey

Marking a brand-new era for Assasins Creed titles, Odyessy exceeded everyone’s expectations this month with a game that takes the typical AC formula and throws it out the window, instead putting focus on rich world-building, new storylines, and an interesting setting. The team behind ACO is clearly looking to step beyond the shadow of its predecessors and it shows. Read what we think about Assassins Creed Odyessy online now:

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 – PS4, Xbox One, PC

Black Ops 4

Now-notorious in the gaming industry for a series of flops alongside its better titles, fans of the series waited anxiously for the latest installment in the Black Ops series; and they weren’t disappointed. Incorporating all we love about CoD without sacrificing on new features, exciting innovations and overall style, there’s a reason we’ve scored Black Ops 4 with a very well-deserved 9.0. forrzaatumn

Love fast cars, and can’t get enough of beautiful 4K graphics? Then Forza Horizon 4 might be October’s pick for you, combining all the features that made previous Forza Horizon titles successful with some brand-new elements and a revamped graphics engine that looks better than ever. Explore the British countryside in style and feel the wind in your hair with a solid game that’s earned it’s 8.0 rating in our eyes. Read our review here:

New FIFA 19 Patch Gives Cech a Tie

While it might not quite be breaking news, FIFA 19 found itself in lukewarm water earlier in the month. Arsenal’s goalkeeper Peter Cech turned to Twitter to point out his in-game likeness preferring his famous helmet over a more suitable suit and tie combination for his negotiations. This has now been rectified, with FIFA 19 announcing their patch notes that they managed to find him a tie instead.
