The action has finally gotten underway at the SSE Arena in London, as four days of intense competition rolls into the English capital for FACEIT CS:GO 2018.
Today has seen the first two bouts of quarter-finals taking place, with Natus Vincere and MIBR being the first two teams to reach the semi-final stage, beating BIG and CompLexity respectively. Navi, who suffered an early loss to Astralis, have since bounced back after three straight which set them up with a quarter-final meeting with BIG. They showed no sign of slowing down the momentum, as Navi brushed BIG aside with a 2-0 victory. MIBR meanwhile will join Navi in the semis, also claiming a 2-0 win over CompLexity. Having trailed 1-0 from the first map, it appeared that CompLexity had pulled a game back, but lost the lead having been ahead 12-10.
This will be followed up tomorrow by fixtures between Team Liquid and HellRaisers, as well as Astralis vs. FaZe. Saturday will then see two semi-final head to heads to determine the participants in Sunday’s Grand Final. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive’s worldwide renown, particularly on the eSports stage, has attracted a crowd of over 10,000 to this year’s FACEIT event, to see which team will rule over all and claim the £380,000 cash prize.
