Persona 5 Scramble The Phantom Strikers Announced

Persona 5 Scramble The Phantom Strikers Announced

Since Best Buy leaked the information that there would be a Persona 5 game on Nintendo Switch, there’s been rumours of a port. However, with news of Persona 5: The Royal arriving next year, it made no sense for a port of the original game. So without further ado, on the second day of the Persona Super Live Tour 2019, Persona 5 Scramble The Phantom Strikers was officially announced to the public.

The rumours of Persona 5 coming to Switch have been ongoing since Joker was announced for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It almost seemed certain with the details leaked by US retail chain Best Buy, but once again – we never saw it coming. Persona 5 Scramble The Phantom Strikers is a collaboration between Atlus, P-Studio and Koei Tecmo’s Omega Force.

Many will be aware that Omega Force are renowned for producing the series Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors. There’s a high possibility that Persona 5 Scramble the Phantom Strikers will be available with multiplayer co-op. This also means that there’s a high possibility of controlling the other Phantom Thieves as well as Joker.

Considering how the previous Persona spin-offs are regarded as canon by Atlus, it’s likely that Persona 5 Scramble the Phantom Strikers will expand on Persona 5‘s storyline. However, don’t expect any major expansions on the storyline – it’s likely that it will take place somewhere in-universe. If we go by how the other spin-offs work like Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight, takes place some time after the main story but the protagonists have no memories of their time in Club Velvet.

This isn’t a game that will be essential to play, as the original was designed as a standalone. However, Atlus do like to make their spin-offs whilst working on the next mainline Persona game.

For those interested, Persona 5 Scramble the Phantom Strikers will be released on both the PS4 and Switch. Whilst there’s been no set announcement, release will most likely be expected after Persona 5: The Royal has been released.
