Rocket League developers Psyonix has announced that they will be adding a new shop to the game, one which will benefit the eSports teams that compete in the indie smash hit title.
The shop itself, known as the Rocket League Esports Shop will launch its pilot program on 16th April, and will offer cosmetics from some of the biggest teams in the Rocket League Championship Series, including Cloud9, Dignitas, Evil Geniuses, G2 Esports, Ghost Gaming, Mousesports, NRG Esports, Rogue Splyce, TSM and Team Vitality.
The game will be subjected to an update on the day of the shop’s launch, and will appear in the main menu. From here, you will be able to head under “Shop” and find six in-game items every day, which will refresh in the days following. Psyonix has confirmed that featured items will last at least 24 hours, whilst others may be up for 48 hours.
If you’re interested in grabbing some eSports swag in-game, you will need to purchase a new form of currency called Esports Tokens, which cost $0.99 for 100 Tokens, $4.99 for 600 Tokens, $9.99 for 1200 Tokens and $19.99 for 2500 Tokens. Be sure to check your regional equivalent prices before purchase.
Psyonix has also confirmed that around 30% of sales will be going to the participating teams, as well as a portion given out as a prize pool bonus to North American and European RLCS players.
