Despite the news that Open Worlds and Neighbourhoods would not be making their way into The Sims 4, Maxis have announced some exciting new updates and upcoming releases for Simmers next month. November will see the drop of both the ‘Get Famous’ Expansion Pack for PC and Mac users and the ‘Seasons’ Expansion Pack for users on PS4 and XBox – but for those waiting for the free update that was promised in October, the wait certainly seems worth it.
Style Influencer Career
An almost serendipitous addition to the game in time for ‘Get Famous’ to release, your Sims can now play at being an Influencer in the world of Fashion and Style in a similar style to YouTube Royalty and Beauty Gurus that we’ve all become familiar with. If you didn’t catch the Maxis Monthly live stream where the Gurus discussed how the career works, let me break this down for you.
- The Style Influencer occupation is an active career, meaning you can perform tasks and duties from the comfort of your Sims home to grow your audience and reach.
- As you start off as a fashion journalist, the career is heavily influenced by the Writing skill early on, with Photography and Painting becoming more important as your Sim progresses through the ranks.
- Your Sim will be able to use typical CAS items within the career, including providing new trends and looks and even offering makeovers to other Sims. In addition, you can set a worldwide ‘trend’ that other Sims will aspire to achieve!
- The addition of the ‘Sketch Pad’ reward item, which acts as a portable easel and helps level up your painting skill, means that your Sims can now be creative in any location they choose.
So if you miss the good old days of styling over Sims and forecasting the next trend that we enjoyed in The Sims 3: Ambitions, this free update could be exactly what you’re looking for. When the ‘Get Famous’ EP drops on November 16th you will be able to take your humble Influencer Sims and have them become a celebrity in their own right too.
If you didn’t get to see the Maxis Monthly live stream, you won’t have experienced the jaw drop moment that many of us experienced when SimGuruRomeo casually starting pulling the terrain around like play-dough right before our eyes. In a totally unannounced turn, Kate and Ninja continued talking about the Gamechanger program and the new updates as we all watched in awe as foundation manipulation, and terrain tools were revealed.
Terrain tools have been a long-awaited feature in the Sims community, with very few Simmers being left disappointed by the announcement. Even more so, being able to now create realistic ‘split-level’ rooms and houses is something that has been a much-requested feature that builders in the game are already dying to get their hands on.
The Sims 4: Get Famous Expansion Pack releases on November 16th and will retail at £34.99 and is available now for pre-order. The Sims 4: Seasons Expansion Pack releases for PS4 and XBox users on November 13th and will retail at £34.99, with pre-order available now.
